FAQ

Q. What is the difference between a Personal Chef and a Private Chef?

A. Private Chef is employed by one individual or family full time and is often "live in" and prepares three meals a day. A Personal Chef serves several clients, usually one per day, and provides multiple meals that are custom designed for the clients' particular requests and dietary requirements. These meals are packaged and stored so the client may enjoy them at their leisure in the future.

Q. Can I afford a personal chef?

A. Absolutely! When you add up the time and money spent on planning, shopping, cooking and clean up, the price can be quite affordable. The cost per meal is comparable to eating at a nice restaurant. However, with our service, you will be getting customized meals with your specific dietary needs and tastes being met. You will eat in the comfort of your home, at your convenience.

Q. Do you cook in my kitchen?

A. Yes, due to Health Department regulations, which are in place for the safety of the public, I am required to cook in your kitchen. On your scheduled cooking day, I will arrive with all the necessary tools and groceries to prepare your meals. All you need to provide is a clean kitchen and storage space for the meals prepared.

Q. Do I need to be home while you are there?

A. You do not need to be there. Most of my clients are at work and because I am busy cooking several things at the same time, I will need to focus on the work at hand. Your kitchen is my "office" for the day and in order for me to prepare your quality meals, it is best that I work alone.

Q. How long will you be at my house cooking?

A. It usually takes 5-8 hours to actually cook, cool and store the meals in your home, depending on the meal package selected. My time spent planning, grocery shopping, etc. is usually about three hours longer than the actual cooking time and takes place outside of your home.

Q. How often will you come to my house to cook?

A. I can visit weekly, biweekly, monthly, or whatever works best for you.

Q. What type of meals do you prepare? Can I choose the menu?

A. At our initial meeting we will discuss your likes, dislikes and any dietary needs you may have. This will allow me to customize your menu. You can make your selections from our menu or if you prefer I will choose the menu for you and send a copy of the selections for your approval a few days before your cook date. A wide range of menu selections is available. We will also prepare any of your recipes. I have extensive experience with gluten free cooking and am knowledgeable about diabetic, vegetarian, low fat, and allergen free cooking.
